Gas Milage

I am trying to talk my parents into buying me a '92 Camaro RS. It's in good condition for $2500. They say I cant get it because Insurance on the v-8 and Gas Prices. Does anyone know the gas milage on a '92 RS 305 with an automatic?

Thanks
Stephen

it's probably about 18-20 city and 25 highway. insurance shouldn't be too high. The insurance for my '86 IROC is only $60 per month. I don't carry collision though.

I pay about $120 / month for Insurance. Thats with a $1000 deductable and full coverage. If your under 18 it will be even worse.

And more Civic's then I can count. Why do they even bother?

Why don't you just pay for the insurance and gas yourself then u won't have to worry about what your parents have to say.

I haven't yet to get a job. I am 16 so I havn't had much oppertunity. What I'm planning to do is after I finish my Auto Technology class at school, we are getting ASE Wheel and tire certifications so I will probaly go to work at Big-10 Tires or somewhere of that nature.

Thanks for all your help,
Stephen

Well man, I am a new owner, and I am 16. My insurance is $100 every month, but that is just liability. I have to pay for my gas, and sometimes it sucks because i ONLY use premium...nothing less. So if you average that, it can get a little high, but the thrill of driving it is like no other.

i just realized that my 88 350 TPI DOESN"T require premium, i think the minimum is like 89 or maybe even 87, at least thats wut my chiltons says, and it runs perfect on 87, no detonation or anything, doesn't run as strong,

Insurance providers are tricky. Mosy of them do not give a flyingFart what kinda engine you have or what kinda car for that matter.
They told me when I 1st got insured that the price will be the same for any car under liability. There is a tricky thing you must remeber when you lease a car they want full covarage. I doubt this applies to a 2500$ car. I went from a bronco to a "porshe<--72 POS VW" to a truck to a camaro. All of these were the same price liability 130$ a month.
Now another insurance provider might just charge you for a "sports car" Its worth your time to shop for insurance.

Fuel economy depends 80% on the driver. The RS should get 18-20 city 24/25 highway.

well my dad sells car insurance for AAA and i pay 150 a month for pl/pd and uninsured. I'm 18 and its so high because its a z-28 "sports car." I fill my tank up once a week and probably get about 12 miles a gallon. I pretty much drive normally, once in a while ill get a lead foot. i gotta admit though it is really fun to drive, but you gotta remember these cars can definitely be high maintenance so get a job.
