305 advertised as 350

My friend just purchased an 83 camaro RS. He was told that the 305 had been pulled and a Crate 350 was installed. We got it home and looked at the casting numbers:

Block: 460777- 78-79 305 block
Heads: 333882 74-80...350/400......76cc chambers

This has obviously been pieced together and appears to be a 305.
Can a 305 block be bored out to a 350? .24 of an inch seems like quite a stretch, considering I have a 305 thats bored .040 over. Im sure this happens often, people trying to push over a 305 as a 350. Please let me know whats going on here, and if theres anything my friend can do. This car is even advertised in autotrader as having a 350 in it. Thanks.

You can't bore it. Once a 305, always a 305. Might want to talk to a lawyer about it.

Was the car running when your friend got it?
If so it must have been awfully slow with 76cc heads on a 305. Even with flattop pistons, it would have about 7.75:1 CR.

We left a message with the seller... yes the car is running, and is terribly slow. Ran it again my 98 Cherokee with K&N and muffler, and I beat him buy a carlink, and I have the 6 cylinder. Its hilariously slow. I also cant wait to hear this guys response. Ill keep everyone updated.

That guy has to be assuming that the buyer is a complete fool, or he's left town.
And if he hasn't left town, that makes him the fool.
Unless he's got mob ties.
