My 94 f

I dont know anywere else to post something to get help about my 94 f-body. When im gettin up to top speed on the speedo which is like 115 (its a formula and it says 115, the car jerks and wont go any higher than 110. What is that? the gear sticking or somthing like that? I want to be able to get it to top speed for racing and i cant do it.

I don't think it has much to do with the previous owner. It comes from the factory that way.

I think it's a rev limiter, or at least that's what my friend's 93 has. Of course, he's taken it up over 120 without the limiter kicking in.

the problem is a speed limiter. if the vehicle was ordered with the base tires it is speed limited to 108. i fixed mine (94 z28) by using a program with a different vin. i searched through the database and found a vehicle with the optional z rated tires and all other matching options then put that program in my car. i also work for a chevy dealer though and have the equipment to do that. your going to need a hypertech power programmer to get rid of it.

it is called a rev-limiter. I was looking aorund last night to find out about it and it is exactly what you said. Would jet programmer do the same as a hypertech?

well i too have a 94' formula. except mine has a six speed and have taken it all the way 155 without a problem. mine is all stock no mods. i too thought that it was supposed to have a limiter but i guess i got lucky.

no, it's called a speed limiter. the rev limiter is rpm activated and will hit at 5900. the six speed and auto make no difference. mine was a six speed ordered with the base tires, but that has since been altered. i assume the jet programmer will do the same. just make sure you get the programmer, not the plug in module.

you must of had the z-rated tires when the car was bought then. So once i go the new chip(which ever one), How would I change the speedometer to have the 155mph one?

man i have so many questions. One final one, which one of hypertech should i get. I can get the hypertech plus on ebay. Or spend the full price for the power programmer 3 which just came out? I dont really know the difference and i guess it would make a big deal to buy a new one since they sell high and fast on ebay

buy the hypertech power programmer 3. as for the speedo, get one from a dealer as they can have the miles put on correct.
