Do you have lights? Does the starter crank at all? Have you checked all the connections?

First thing is first, if you don't have lights.. charge or replace the battery.

If you have lights and the starter won't crank, still replace or recharge the battery.
If still nothing happens, check the fusible links going to the starter.

If the battery is in good shape and nothing happens, try bypassing the starter solenoid with a screwdriver or a small hammer while the key is on, what you do is touch the power to the solenoid with the bolt that connects it to the starter, they should be relatively close(BE CAREFUL). If this does not start the car, your starter motor is probably bad. If it does, your solenoid is bad, and you had better replace the whole starter anyway.

Sounds like a bad battery cable... It doesn't matter how good your battery is if it's not connected to the car.

check your connections at the batt. This happened to me one time and all it was is the neg. cable came loose. Tightened up and all was well.

The car finally started it was the cable from the battery to the starter but now the car is idling funny like it wants to shut off and the starter is also bad.
