ecm wire

ecm wire

i was going to check the timing and the hood decal says to disconnect a tan and black wire before checking. i found a wire near the battery and when i disconnected it the engine died. is this the correct wire? i need someone with and 86 IROC tpi to let me know

I think the wire you are looking for is on the pass side of the distributor. There's a plug there.

You have to disconnect that wire to play with the timing.
