Valves - size ?

Hmmmm since my car's a daily driver (i.e. need to run wife around too *lol*) I can't strip the engine right now... so that's why I have this question

What's the specs for the intake and exhaust valves on a 305 TBI from a '91 Camaro RS ? ... i.e.. .. stem ... head diameter .. length etc

Reason I'm asking, I got valves in my garage that I bought a long time ago for my lil'hobby car (the '76 Fiat Spider), and the exhaust ones should work not sure about intake

I'd like to go a lil'bit bigger .. but.. basically just to the point where ya can install the valves by doing bigger 45 degree cuts and they'll fit in ... I don't want to overdo it

depending on the heads could be 1.5, 1.6, 1.84, 1.92. why don't you post what head you have, that would make it a lot easier. i'd guess there is about a zero chance the valves interchange and if the 10 dollar replacement cost of new valves is a problem maybe you should wait untill you had the jack for SBC valves.

ok

I believe it's a L03 engine .. that's what the '91 Camaro RS came with

Actually the valves could fit .. because they came from SBC's .. only way I could buy bigger valves for my project ... and then I was planning on having them recut for the Spider .. but now I may use some of them for the Camaro

Some are titanium, some are stainless

Cutting them down will probably cost more than new valves.

Why don't you have the heads machined to fit the bigger valves instead. Your pretty much just wasting those valves, cutting them down.

Well

I got them for not a bad price ... but problem is... gotta look at them again .. somewhere in the garage ... I think they may be 7 mm stem diameter ... too small

While you are Kluging it up, may as well have 7mm inserts installed too.

What heads are these valves supposedly going into? What the casting number. If you wanted, you could just have the heads worked, to accept those valves. Then port them and you will have some nice heads.

Never mind i just saw you have and LO3. Forget about those heads, they are junk. Find some 416 or 601 heads. Have them worked and ported to accept the valves. These heads would then be decent.

Have you measured the valve sizes yet? What valves are they again?

L03 heads

It's L03 heads, standard ... reason I mentioned those is I was just going to get a second set from the junkyard, rework them, portmatch, slight very slight work o nthe combustion chamber, sligthly different valves . .that's all ... nothing tremendous .. and keep those as running heads .. and the stock ones as a backup ...

416 or 601 heads hmmm are those 305 heads ?

Ya know folks .. ya by any chance got a url for hmm or something.. where I can see a list of good better and best heads for 305 engines .. and which cars they came in ?

Also I'll still need them heads to be somewhat smog heads

Combustion chamber volume

L03 combustion chamber volume is hmmm 58 cc ? Or is it 64 ?

The heads from 305's from Camaro's earlier than '91, were they a better design ?

All I need is hmmm like hmmm a casting number ... or ... car/model/year good heads .. 305 heads.. came on.. and I can find it at a junkyard

You identify them by looking at the casting number.

ah ok

So this one would be a rather good choice

14022601...80-86...267/305......1.72"/1.5" or 1.84"/1.5" valves, 53cc chambers

Would raise the overall compression ratio slightly.. or if not at least leave room for combustion chamber work without drop in compression
