"Fasten Seatbelts" light that WON'T TURN OFF!

Yes, I always wear my seatbelt... I don't know why this light won't turn off on my guage panel... it's getting annoying!

Is my ECM going? Do I have bad wires? A sender going?

Someone help me... I'm stumped.

PS: Anyone know if my car was eligable for the infamous seat-belt recall? The belts just don't seem to be right, they don't catch when you yank on them and my drivers side one doesn't stay taught. Is this normal for 3rd Gen seatbelts?

It sounds like your belts are pretty old and warn out. Solution to your problems: Remove seat belt light. No it isn't your ecm going bad. As for the belts not catching when you pull...they shouldn't. They were designed to lock when decelorating. There is a weight that controls a ratchet for the belt. If you were on a hill pointed down you would have trouble with the seat belt not stretching out .

try to lock the seat belts up when you stomp on the brakes and pull on the belt, if they dont lock you might have a problem during a crash

JP... I was looking more towards an electrical solution to this problem... I'd like things to work as they were ment to, rather than doing things half-assed... call me a perfectionist...

Thanks for the reassurance about the belts not catching, I feel alot better about that now...

Any other suggestions/solutions? Vader, this seems like something you'd know about...
