Head compatability
I blew my lg4 305 4bbl with 081 heads and was given a 350 block. The block is bored out .06 and has flat pistons. I fear that I will not be streetable if I don't change heads. unfortunately I am on a HUGE budgjet untill next year becuase i am in the middle of a repaint. Engine failure was slightly unexpected. I plan on building the motor into a moderate 350. What from my 081 heads can be swapped over to reduce the cost of large chambered heads? Or, where is a good place to fine cheap 350 heads that I can use for a few years untill alluminum is in the bugjet?
im sorta confused on the question but if ur question is will the 350 run with the 305 heads on it yes it will, to its potential, probably not, the 305 was probably not to its potential with those heads but none the less they will work.

About all that can be swapped over are rocker arms and valve covers - and that's assuming the 350 heads you find have the same type of rocker arms and valve covers.
Run the 081's. They would be better with some basic porting work, and a lot better with some 1.94" intake valves, but they will be fine on a for-now 350. Just use some thick composite gaskets to help keep compression in check.

Thanks...
my other question is would it make sense to sell the 081s for 100 bucks (I already have a buyer) and then spend 200-300 on something with a larger chamber just to get me by untill alluminum is in the bugjet? (that could be acouple years)

Not if the larger chamber heads are 882's or 193's. Your 081's will out-flow a whole bunch of factory 350 heads.

Here's a head that I sell a lot of that my head porter also likes.
They are made by Renegade, not too well known yet but the specs and price speak for themselves!
190cc intake
64cc combustion chambers
2.02/1.60 valves
Straight or angle plug (I suggest angle for plug access with headers)
Early style (pre 87), non-EGR
Bronze Guides cut for .530 seals
Hardened steel seats
Accepts standard or center bolt valve covers
comes assembled with stainless steel valves
Dual springs for up to .700 lift
7 degree retainers
Machined locks
guide plates
3/8 screw-in rocker arm studs
here's the flow
.200 112.5 97
.300 163.3 135.5
.400 209.2 167.9
.500 243.5 176.4
.600 265.2 175.8
Now for the price $875.00
only a little over $300 more than Vortecs!
OH did I mention that these are aluminum!
Comp Pro Comp, 1.52, 3/8 stud $249.99
Comp Pro Comp, 1.6, 3/8 stud $249.99
MotorVille stainless clones of the above $219.99

It is a 4bolt main out of a 72 truck. From what I'm hearing I should run my 081's with a big gasket and I will be fine untill I can get good heads. I have found a set of 882s for 200, some 193s for 150, and a set of 624s for 100. I am truely worried about compression with my 081s. I would change over to dish pistons...but I am planning on switching to larger heads in the future and don't want to sacrifice compression at that time. what is my best option?

the 081's will work fine on your 72 350. They are the best of the ones you've mentioned.
If you want even better performance port them and add large valves.
the flat top pistons does not come all the way to the top on those motors. use a standard felpro replacement gasket and stop worrying.
