Not too long ago my battery went almost dead when I left the ignition on for awhile. Not sure if this is related. But now up at college ( I only drive the car like twice a week), and it cranks a little before starting. This drains the battery a little because the alternator charges for about 1/2 minute. Once the volt meter reaches charged the alternator won't squeal until I turn on my lights. The alternator is about 5 months old and 100 amps. Could this all be related to my battery be discharged once and having hard starts. I just bought a 900 Cold Cranking amp battery would this help the hard starts compared to the 700 or 750 CCA battery I have now. I don't have tools with me right now to change the battery and wanted to post this to see if I'm doing the right thing.

Definately the extra amprage will help with hard starts. I have a 1100 I think and no problems whatsoever! I used to have hot start problems with the old battery.

The alternator sounds like the belt is not tight enough. Crank that puppy over and tighten that belt like a mother!
