It depends. Many conventional "performance" sets are about a hundred dollars, like you've said. I run a set of GM ZZ4 springs with a ZZ4 cam (they're matched parts, in essence), and I think the springs cost about $75 -- not including retainers or caps. I've later been told that GM's springs are outsourced and aren't very good, so I'm hedging my bets...

You may want to try eBay, but be sure that they're coming from a name-brand company. There's gotta be a cheaper alternative out there for you.

U need to use the springs specs from the manufacture for the cam your gonna run. Comp recomends that u use the beehive spring with the aggressive profile of the XFI lobes.......if you dont use the right components u WILL float the valves!!!!! Those springs are only about $50 more than a standard spring. There is no point in trying to save money on valve train parts!!!!

Slow89Iroc-Z...thanks man...I have one too...a slow 89 Iroc ....I'm not trying to go cheap....I'm just edumacatin myself on the whole valve spring issue.....I don't think the springs AFR uses will take a cam with .584/.579 lift.....thanks again!
