fuel pressure a NON steady 44 psi, PLUS Injectors are clicking loudly
ok, i finaly brought my fuel pressure tester !!!! and i hooked it up, disconnected the vacum hose going to regulator, and with the car warmed up, it was 44 PSI, however, the needle was jerking back and forth about 1PSI or maybe less. and it was a constant jerking, kinda looked like a vacum guage on a engine with bad valves or something. what could be causing this.
also isn't 44 PSI about 2 or 3 PSI low?
and also.. the injectors are ALL ticking, kinda loud, and you can put your finger on them and feel them also, so its not the rockers. what all is wrong?
thanks!!

David,
First, the fuel pressure specifications that I have are 37 PSIG ±3 at idle, and 44 PSIG ±3 with the vacuum line disconnected.
The fuel pressure fluctuation is a different matter, and may indicate a regulator that is sluggish, a sticky pump discharge valve, or an injector that is flowing excessively. The minimal difference is probably not a big concern, however. There is going to be a minor pressure fluctuation every time an injector bank opens, and you may just have an especially sensitive gauge.
As for the injectors clicking, I'd be concerned if mine didn't. The valve pintles are opening and closing rapidly, and that sharp clicking indicates that they are not sluggish in operation, but are being very compliant.
