Couple of Q's
I finally have my '84 Z-28 up and running. I had put in a Comp Cam 12-238-2 about 6 months ago and wore a lobe off during break in. I got so mad, I put the car down for a while, then was injured, still am. I had a local mechanic swap it out for me. He did a pretty good job on the big stuff, but as with anything you change from factory, tuning is very specific and detail orientated. I can handle doing small stuff no problem.
Here are my questions:
1. After everything is nice and broken in, about what temp. can I expect to run?
2. What type of headers would you suggest for my set up?
3. How long should I "baby" it before I can really get on it?
I have an L69, comp cam 12-238-2, Weiand Stealth Intake, Vac advance HEI, Edelbrock 650 carb (Can't remember # right now) and no emmissions--no computer. I have always had to keep the timing conservative on this car, detonation occurs at with only about 11 to 12 degrees of initial advance. It is at 8* right now.
Thank you again.
