Older intake on newer heads, i think i messed up...

Ok, the problem is just as the title reads. I tried to modify my intake for the newer style heads. The 4 middle bolt holes as far as i was told are to be extended more towards the edge of the intake.

I got the largest bit i had and first enlarged the bolt hole as much as possible by wobbling it around, my first mistake, atleast IMO. becuase i went too far in some area's and cut into the oil galley area of the facing. I think i'd be able to remedy this up, but now the problem enlies, how the heck do ya do ya enlarge the hole properly?

It seems as if i should just cut that part of the intake facing off all the way top the end to allow the bolts to go in freely...

does anyone have any pics of their modified intake?

Oil gallery area? There's no oil passages in the intake.

What galley are you talking about? There's no oil passages in the intake, only coolant, exhaust and unburned fuel/air.

Did you put the intake on to varify this? The area on the intake mounting flange and the heads is pretty big. It would be extremely difficult to do this. It would require extending the bolt hole an 1" or more.

FWIW, I adapted a regular pre 86 intake to a set of aluminum LT1 heads. I had to actually redrill several holes up to 1" horizontally, along with re-angle the bolt holes to fit the different bolt angle o fthe LT1 heads.

yep i'm sure, i can take a pic tomorow maybe, but the flange was royally screwed.

Today i bought a fully ported and powdercoated modified intake. It was $50 including shipping. Only becuase the guy lives 40 minutes from here, but i dont have a car to drive to him at the moment.
