Want to bypass heater core

I never, ever use my heater down here in FL, so i'd like to eliminate the heater hoses and just bypass that part of the system. Question is, should I run a small bypass hose from the pump to the manifold, or can I just screw some pipe plugs in there and be done with it?

either way, by pass or plugs would work.

Pipe plugs are fine. The block has a by-pass to the water pump built into it.

When travelling to your fine state on business, I've seen the natives wearing fur coats when the temp hits 55 degrees F. You must be a transplant.

Yep, another damn yank who moved down to Floridia a few years back. But i've also picked up the habit of suiting up with the trench coat when the temp hits 55*.

No prob. I'm probably going to do the pipe plugs, totally eliminate those hoses. I think what I may also do is put some radiator flush into my A/C flush gun, flush out the heater core real good then cap it off. Hopefully that'll minimize corrosion.

Well I finally got around to doing this, seems the car wants to run a little hotter now, heats up much quicker too. Looks like a flush and a lower stat is in order for me, maybe that'll get it settled. RS91 i'll try to get some pics to you after I clean up my engine bay a little.

You may want to run a hose from the manifold to the radiator if you have a fitting for it under the rad cap. It may be different if you have EFI, and you would have to change the fitting on the manifold to the smaller size. That is if the warmer-than-usual candition persists. I did this on mine because the heater core went out. I live in SC, so I'll be in trouble before too long.
