what is it? fastest and cheapest way of getting my 91 rs into 12 second territory? its currently running a 305 tbi automatic and is stock down to the air cleaner
let me know the suspension(doesn't have to be cheap), motor(junkyard things i should look out for) and rear gears(or complete rear ends), also what torque convertor would be best for nitrous assisted car..looking into a 3000 stall but talk me out of it or into it... that would plant me deep into 12 second land cheaply
thanks in advance

throw away the 305TBI and build a motor like mine.

fast, cheap reliable... pick 2.
Buy a real big nitrous setup since you want to go fast, cheaply.

lol...I was going to be the first to respond to this thread saying a 400 shot and praying she holds together long enough to get a run or two in but I figured I'd wait for someone to try and say something constructive first Originally posted by ME Leigh

Well, i think you have about 3 options.
1. Like they mentioned, 300-400 shot of the giggle juice.
2. Drive it off a cliff, although that may only net you a mid 13.
3. You could always buy a fast car and have it pull your camaro down the track.

Damnit I was thiking of the cliff idea too
Guess I should start posting these things quicker.
Actually, my way of getting into the 12s...
Put a good set of heads, a nice cam, and intake on your 305, and run it down the track twice...just enough to spin a bearing. Then drive it to someone's house 30 miles away, in the process spinning 2 more bearings.
That'll force you to build a better motor...like me.
4-bolt "010" block bored .030" over to 355ci. SpeedPro Forged L2256F pistons, mildly ported LT1 heads (modified to work with SBC), LT1 heads, XE268-14 cam, 10.5-11:1 compression, 1 3/4" SLP headers and full exhaust. And start dropping lots of weight.
Better net me at least mid 12s once tuned.

But keep in mind with that kind of power, you're probably going to have to rebuild your transmission. I'm scared I'm going to grenade my stock auto if I put it back in with the new motor.

While there are quicker and more efficient ways than duron mentioned, i laugh out loud when i read that.
For real though, those heads, intake, exhaust, and cam all have to be thrown out if you even have a chance at hitting anywhere near 12's.

i have a trans that can handle pretty much anything...im going to go with heads, intake and cam and some 3.73s and see what that gets me....then comes the 200 shot and ill hope for 11s
all with a little 305
all with a little 305

You're going to have a TON of tuning to do. I was going to try to be low 13s with an NA 305 and then low 12s or maybe eeking into the 11s with my 305 on spray, but I blew up my bottom end. Just make sure you don't rev it too high like I did. My car was actually a half second slower at the track (right before I spun the bearing) with the heads/cam/intake than it was with the stock heads, cam, and TPI injection.Originally posted by jazzcat2001

With the right tuning though, that combo would have knocked a good second to second and a half off my times though (with a good torque converter as well of course).
Speaking of this trans you have for sale, I read about it in the for sale section...does that $550 include a torque converter at all?

Sell your 305 and buy a vette
or big block
or try for a realistic goal for that tbi like 14's

selling the 305 to buy a vette is an option as well
the car is for sale if anyone is interested...i think im going back to mustangs..i was at least running 14s stock in those

Well no offense dude but why would you expect a TBI Camaro to be anywhere near a top dog mustang? If you wanted 14s stock you should have bought a 5.0 TPI 5 Speed or a 350 car. Those run 14s stock.
Why would you put all this money into a car you selling?

You have it all wrong. Stangs should be beater cars if you must. Not the Camaro. Say 1802 hail of mary's before you post again.Originally posted by jazzcat2001

Lighten the hell out of it and get some nitrous. It's TBI. Now whether your engine lives for a lengthy time thereafter is the next question to ponder.Originally posted by jazzcat2001

As for the Fox body, hell, I'm kinda looking for another again.

You could always buy a stroker crank, rods and pistons to up your cubes to 334 inches and then check out the 3-oh-why story in chevy high performance for tips on using 350 heads on a 305. Match that with a cam in the 210-212 intake duration vicinity and a good intake and you'll be running in the twelves and stompin' on fords bad-boy, the cobra mustang, just like they were. Of course you'll have more torque, since they were using a 30 over 305 block with mostly stock parts in the bottom end...and they were in the 12's.
