I was gonna put this in the tranny section, but i thought there is probably alot of yall who have opinions on this subject who don't usualy read that section.

Im going to change the filter and flush the fluid in a few days. and i want some good fluid to put in. Should i go with just the plain synthetic stuff that i can get at PepBoys, or what about the Trick Shift fluid? is it really worth getting, what are the pros and cons? Also, can anyone recomend a easy to install tranny fluid cooler? or at least one were i can find all necessary parts at autozone.

i'd use synthetic unless i was after harder shifts and then i'd get a shift kit a nd use synthetic. amsoil makes some good synthetic products look up five7kid here and see what he sells.

how does the Trick Shift make it shift harder, and will it cause any increase in wear? And i already have a shift-kit.

Dextron has friction modifiers added to it, same stuff as the posi additive for rear ends. It helps the clutches and bands engage smoothly. Trick Shift is ATF without the friction modifiers. They've just come out with a synthetic version, I don't know anything more about it, though.

In general, synthetic base stock provides a broader temperature operating band (thinner when cold, thicker and more resistant to oxidation when hot) than petroleum base, and provides better lubrication for the parts that slide against each other (pump, bearings, bushings). I don't know what Pep Boys sells, but since the formulation will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, I can't endorse those I haven't seen any data on. They all should meet the Dextron III requirements, but you can do that without a synthetic base, obviously. However, I don't think you could go wrong with AMSOIL or Mobil 1.

For a tranny cooler, most anything rated for 10,000 pounds would be adequate.
