Brother-in-Law's New Hoopti, Who's Faster?

OK, here's the deal. My brother in law got a great deal on a 2001 Mustang GT. I'm not sure if it is stick or auto......

I have an 84 Z-28 5 speed with the following:

L69 engine
Comp Cams 12-238-2
Crane Roller Tip Rockers
Weiand Stealth Intake
Edelbrock 650 Carb
NO AC, Emissions, Computer
HEI Distributor with adjustable vac advance
New Accel Coil and Module, new plugs, car is finely tuned and running strong.

So what do you think?

I would almost always go with the newer cars, but the best way to find out is to race him.

Probably a good race. Average 99+ auto GT hits around a mid 14 from what I read. I would think your car could turn that or maybe a little better with the mods you've got. The race will depend on if your car is running to potential or not IMO.

your probably pretty close to the 220-225 rwhp that the auto mustang has. You better get a good launch.

This will probably get moved to the street racing board, but I will say he will win, you didn't list headers as one of your mods.

The cam is a good addition, but if it is still a 305 (which it appears to be) with stock heads... you will lose. What gears are you running? Posi? Traction mods? Headers/exhaust?

The newer Mushtangs have an improved head design over the 97ish modular engine. They are a bit quicker because of it. It's not looking good for you to win, but you shouldn't be too far behind either. Not bad for a 17yr old car...

1984 z28 w/ a 357 cu in. monster engine which is looking like the posterchild for Edelbrock with the exception of the Holley 750vac... all the suspension stuff... 9-bolt posi disk is in...

I still have the stock heads.

3.73 gears and Posi.

Exhaust is in the process. So I am stuck with the stock manifolds right now too. I probably won't see him for about 2 or 3 weeks anyhow, so hopefully that will be done by then.
