fuel line pulsating

I have a maual fuel pump NAPA bran new , and the line comeing from the metal line to the fuel pump has a 3/8 rubber hose . That rubber hose pulsates . It is a Gates 3/8 not for EFI hose . I never notice't it doing that . When I replacet it I may have left a extra 2 or 3 inch's the hole thing mesures about 18 in . Is this too long or did I pick something up in the line , the car sat for a long time . I removed all the old fuel and have run about 15 gallons through it .
If I did can I blow air in the line back to the tank . My inline filter from pump to carb is clean and full of gas .

Help do not want to go up in flames . Is it nomal for the rubber fule hose to flop around when the car is running . When I pinch it I can realy feel it sucking , like it is starving for fuel . Car runs fine though .
