Cracked roller tip rockers, suggestions?

I have 2 roller tip rockers that are cracked in the same place. The picture shows one of the cracked ones next to one that is not cracked. The both are only cracked on one side.
They are comp cams magnum roller tip rockers 1.52 ratio with only 100 miles on them.

Can these be used like this?
Can they be welded or fixed?
Do you think Comp would replace them?

This does not make me happy, but it has helped me decide what name to give my car. I call my car Dammit because I am allways saying that word when I work on her.

I must have looked like this when I found the cracks

No harm in asking them if they'll replace them anyway.

rockers

I had a different problem with those rockers years ago. Comp Cams was very curious about it but never really came up with a solution.
Mine were turning blue from heat in the ball and nut area. I think the angle of the oil feed hole was different from a stocker but what I noticed most of all is the ball they supply for that rocker does not fit down inside the rocker very well, it kind of rides up on it's edges rather than the entire circumfrence of the ball. I took a stock ball from a stamped steel GM rocker and it fits better in the comp cam rocker than the ball the comp Cam rockers cam with Comp Cams had no explaination for this really. And the turning blue from heat problem I was told may have been due to too much spring pressure for the rocker to substain, Maybe they have fixed this problem since, like I said it has been alot of years. Do yourself a favor and pickup a set of full rollers and be done with it. I stay away from the cheaper aluminum rollers too. Go with a set of Stainless or Chrome Molly full rollers, I like to use Crower full rollers, I believe Comp Cams makes the full rollers also in Chrome Molly, it's the only way to go in my opinion, it's a little more expensive, they run in the $300 to $350 range, but it's money well spent, never have to worry about them again. If you decide to go aluminum and this is a daily driven street car, Keep a close eye on them, I have had them wear out after several thousand street miles. Steel needle bearings against aluminum is usually not a good mix, especially if you have a decent cam that requires some stout valve springs. Another problem I had with the cheaper aluminum units is exactly in the area you are photgraphing, Except it didn't break there, you have to watch those cheap pins they put through the housing to hold that roller in place, it is basically a pin that pushes through and is just staked into place on the cheaper rockers, I have had that pin work loose and come out then the roller falls off, and if you are lucky you will catch it before engine damage. Just a few things to keep an eye out for if you don't have the budget for something better. Hope this helps, Larry.

Try these Crane roller tip rockers. PN 11806-16 1.5:1 ratio.

I've used these on a few motors and they work very well.

They are not made like a stock rocker (superior material and heat treat) And they don;t turn blue on ya.

I've heard of this problem with the comp rockers also.

I've used these Crane rocker up to .557" lift and 340LBS spring pressure. No problems.

These are not the same as the cheapy Proform rockers.

Yep F-bird, I have seen those too. I would use those before the Comp Cam roller tip rockers.
I am glad to hear someone else has experienced or seen the blueing of the Comp Cam rockers. Comp Cams acted like they never heard of that before Don't get me wrong, I like Comp Cams, just don't like those dag-gon roller tip rockers they make. Mine turned blue After a couple of dyno pulls on an engine dyno, we pulled the covers off to recheck the valve lash and noticed the fulcrum (sp?) point had turned blue from heat, I did not even have any street miles on the thing yet Oh well. Good luck,,,,Larry.
