help...what is this....

well i was in the process of changing my intake... and well this thing snaps... i don't know what it is... it sits on the rear of the enging block (not attached through the intake) it sits on the block its self.... it has electrical connectors in the back and looks like an oil feed....could it be the oil temp sensor? as you can hopefully see the goldish color circle in the last picture...thats where it broke off from. (rear of the engine bay on the block)...any help would be greatly appreciated.
On cars with electric fuel pumps, doesn't the fuel pump get its power from this switch? So that theres no fuel pumping when there is no oil pressure. As a safety feature so if you get in a wreck your pump doesn't spew gas all over the scene. I could be wrong but if you have a elec fuel pump you may not be able to start it without this switch, or bypassing it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Naw, maybe in the newer cars...but our oil pressure switches (mines down by the filter, pretty sure) only act as a redundant switch...to keep power to the pump if the FP Relay fails....as long as oil pressure keeps the switch closed.
But that doesnt help you with your issue...you need to get the innards out of the hole if the pipe broke off...then get another short 1/8th nipple and connect to the block to your sending unit...alls good that way...everything works as designed.

The OPSU does supply power to in-tank fuel pumps on the later models. Mine went bad in my 1992, causing the fuel pump to ALWAYS run as long as battery is connected - the OPSU gets a direct feed from the battery.

In fact, Vader did test the circuitry awhile back...i/e unplugged the oil pressure switch with the engine running...still ran...
