biggest tires for 1990

This may not belong in here, but could someone please help me.
what is the biggest combination of 15 inch tires that will fit on my 1990 iroc z?

I currently have 255/60R/15's cooper cobras on the back and 235/60R/15's on the front, but would like to go a little bigger as i am tractionally challenged. say would 295/50R/15,s fit?

and how about 255 or 265/50R/15 on the front?

would the 295's help with traction? i can get a good deal on a set of dunlop gt qualifiers.

sounds as if your traction problem is cheap tires. white letters on a tire do not make them good for traction. a 265/50 will fit, but a smaller tire with a softer compound would take care of the job just fine.
