what 1.6 roller rockers and guideplates to get

Shooting for 450 hp at the motor. Someone suggested awhile ago the Comp 1302 1.6 roller rockers. What do you guys think I should go with? Also guideplates, I need to get them asap so my machinist knows how much to take off my stud bosses on the vortec heads so they will fit right. Please let me kno guys asap.

shouldn't matter what rocker you run you'd want to remove the same amount of material from the casting for the screw in studs

HE needs to know how much to mill down on the stud bosses for the guide plates i'm running, he needs the guideplates to work off of. You get what i'm saying.

what guideplates/rockers should I go with in general for my vortec heads.

yeah i think i do, you're saying you have a machinist that doesn't have a clue what he's doing right?and you don't care, you're still going to let him do the work on your heads.

Torque your damn lugnuts, man. Sorry that's terrible. At least you're okay. Also, F--- car audio, it's absolutely useless. You might be young and think that you're only cool if you've got trunk-rattling bass, but it really doesn't matter. Also, it's dead weight. Keep that crap outta there

I'm def with ede. But to answer your question, you could go with just about any rocker. I've got harlan sharps on mine, but I've used Crane Golds, Comps, and Scorpions on customers cars. Guideplates, eh. They're all pretty much the same.

only studs i ever used were ARPs but i'd guess anyone that makes a stud would be very clost to what ARP makes, far as diminsions go. i always give the spec i use for ARPS and no ones came back and said my number is wrong yet. still this is a question a machinist shouldn't have to ask and even if he didn't know he could figure it out.

They're ok, but try to go with an aluminum bodied rocker.

are you sure? Those are said to be better then aluminums. Anyone else fimiliar with the pro mags?

I'm lookin at this comp roller rocker if I need another choice at summit CCA-1044-16 it looks pretty good, 300 $ compared to the pro mags 343$ so its cheaper. What do yous think the usual price is to spend on a good roller rocker for a 450 hp engine. 1.6's

use steel full roller trunnion rockers, like comp, actually comp is all i'd consider. the steel is lighter and stronger. the aluminum rocker will fail at some point, metallurgical fact you can't get around.

Since you need to purchase studs and rockers, get the 7/16" studs along with the correct rocker to fit. They are stronger and won't flex as much as the 3/8" stud. Head machining is the same between them.

RBob.

Guess it's just a matter of preference. I've never seen an aluminum rocker fail. Usually the stud will give first and snap.

rockers

Yep they do break, I am not much of a fan of aluminum either. Plus you have all the steel needle bearings riding against an aluminum body, steel against aluminum is usually not a good mix and they eventually wear out, especially if you run alot of spring pressure. I prefer the Crower steel full rollers and the comp cams chrome molly full rollers, they are more expensive but you shouldn't have to worry about them for a long long time. Larry.
