Keeping up with a 4th gen, what do I need?

Today me and a club member, one of my best friends, were just racing for kicks on a new highway that no one goes on. Well he beat me from a roll, of course. So i thought i possibly had a chance from a dead stop. Well that didnt happen either. He got the jump on me cuz the stupid flagger didnt yell go, he just counted with his hand. And pretty much after that he kept walking away.

So my question is, what will i need to get my 3rd gen to keep up with his 95 T/a. Because im basically tired of him pressing his transmission perform button on his stock t/a and being able to pull that hard on me.

Both of us are auto's. All i have is a FM. He has a cut off.

No way a 290 hp motor, that once you get in the car is exactly what he already has will beat him

haha that would be the plan if i had a lot money. But at the moment i am about to finish up my senior year in high school. I graduate in january tho, so it wont be long before i can get a job to put money in my car while i still can since i dont have any bills.

But i was thinking more of a lot of small upgrades that will just squeeze me over him. Or maybe a little under his power because honestly, hes not a great driver. Thank *** he has that transmission perform button.

Dont worry tho,

(money + gta) - bills = *** whoopings for all.

well ok, most ppl.

I have the exact same car as you do. At California Raceway my car is faster than 9 out of 10 fourth gens. With the TPI I can kill them out of the hole and hold on for the win. Hehehehe. See signature.

Headers and exhaust would be a good place to start. Then of course anything you could do on the intake side would help.

This is what a pretty stock 305 TPI 5 speed does to an LS1 from the hole,
