its called "name that part"
So 3 months ago my car was acting funny...idleing at 3k loud and a loud whistling noise...went to have a freind at my work check it out...it goes away as i pull up...nothing to look at it.
Well it came back today...well i pop my hood looking around the intake and sure enough...This goopy covered looking object sticking in my intake manifold poped off...cause a massive vacumn leak of unessary air...
Ive always wondered what mess this orange stuff was aka JB weld now that ive figured it out...but the part its covering has got me?
Im guessing previous owner took it in to get fixed and the mechanic being felt like charging 2 hours labor and a mysterous part...just jb welded the damn thing.
So i took a pic for you guys and maybe i can get some feedback.
Something with an EGR vacumn i dunno thats one thing i heard?
I would take it out but i have it sitting in there perfectly where its not leaking right now. Im going to JB weld it until monday to figure out what part i need.
Have at it...

Is that the driver’s side front/middle of the intake manifold? Looks like it’s a cold start injector hole. If it is your car has a manifold from an earlier car…

Dan, unsure since I haven't looked at a stock base for ahile, but I have similar/same holes on my Accel that are not used...may have something to do with the fuel rail mounts for vette vs Fodly, since each come from opposite side...just a guess.

Dan,
You're going to have to reseal the intake and used a good thread sealer on all the bolts...that'll stop the cooolant puddling...may help with the smokey startup as well...but first things first

I played with the brightness/contrast of the first picture, and it shows that the item you're pointing is a nut, and bolt. I've also included a pic of pre-89 stock runners with the cold start injector port plugged.
The runners are definitely not stock, I'd agree with 8Mike9 that they're Accels, however the 89 & up don't have a cold start injector, or the hole in the runner flange.
It's possible someone tried using the runners on a pre-89, and put the hole in the flange for the cold start injector.
Later, the hole was plugged, and used on you car before you bought it.
FYI:
It can't be the hole for the EGR temp switch, which is located on the EGR valve base about center of the intake underneath the plenum.
If that goop (passenger side) is coolant, it seems to contain an awful lot of rust in it. If it is rust the cooling system needs to be flushed out.
