I have a 1989 5.7 TPI

Is it internaly balanced or externaly?

You need an internal balance torsional damper. However, your 350 is technically not internally balanced thus the weight on the flexplate. I know it sounds confusing, just remember to go internal balance with the damper (if that's why you're asking). Hope this helps.

Thats exactly why i'm asking. So if its externaly balanced why go with a dampener for internaly balanced????? i'm confused!

all SBC except the 400 are internally balanced. when GM went to the one piece crank seal they had to remove the flywheel flange, thought it wasn't a weight it did add mass to the crank, so that had to replace this mass with the butterfly weight on the flex plate/flywheel to maintain the correct balance.
