Scanning a vehicle while driving ?

I have an Auto-Xray that has worked pretty good for me since I've had it. In the owners manual it says, "If your idle speed is affected on a fuel injected vehicle, it is recommended that the vehicle is not driven while being scanned". Does this apply to my '89 or '92 ? Thanks.
