new motor mounts = way too clode to Strut tower brace...need ideas

I just replaced the motor mounts today and it put the intake WAY WAY too close to my Strut tower brace

I was thinking of making a small 1/4" plate to mount between the brackets and the wheel well to raise up the brace a bit

I think that will be my best bet ...

Any ideas on what I should do ???
anyone else run into that "being too close to plenum"

Thanks for any help

this is the second thread i've read in the last few weeks about replacing motor mounts and the engine sits higher. the other was ES poly mounts. no idea why it would raise the eninge, it shouldn't. to answer the question making a shim would work as long as you maintained hood clearance.

It might be worth trying to note which STB and engine mounts you have since this looks like this is getting common.

Ya sorry they are ES poly mounts
and a hotchkis brace..

just last night I was looking at the old mounts and the ES mounts are actually higher the the others as far as where the main long ~6" bolt goes threw it

the hole for the bolt is higher in the mount there for making the motor mount a little higher

If that makes any since....

Thanks for the help I'll make up a couple of plates this weekend

I think someone needs to call Energy Suspension in San Clemente and complain. Their trans mounts are too high, and now their motor mounts are too... are they just trying to make life difficult?

They're trying to make us have problems by not replacing all mounts at the same time, which is their recommended procedure. That really sucks.

Damn, if they're raising the engine enough to hit a hotchkiss STB then they are bringing the engine WAY up, like almost an inch or so. I have the hotckiss STB and with the crosspiece mounted low in the slots i have 1/2-3/4", if i raised it upo i'd have almost another 1/2"
Thats can't be correct engine geometry...

Maybe this is what SLP means by needing new motor mounts with the 1 3/4" headers? New rubber mounts don't do a damn thing, maybe they are counting on you using energy suspension poly mounts that are much higher. HMMMM....
