Replacement Valve seals look smaller.
I dont have the part number of the felpro that I bought just yet but can get that later today. The thing is, when I pulled of an exhaust valve seal I found that it was a bit taller then the replacement felpro. If the oil just drips on the top and runs down the side of the seal I cant see this as being a problem but the way they fit on doesnt seem right. The only way that these replacements fit all the way down the valve stem is if I put a small socket over it and give it a few good taps. The only description on the exhaust seal box that I remember was "82 - 92 GM engines". I actually cracked one of them trying to tap it on so I'm not sure if this is right. I'm sure after the engine is cranking they will wear in a little better but while the engine is still apart I though that I would post this here. Has anyone else found that the fel pro valve seals were a bit difficult to put on the valve steam of an 89 305? Oh and another question, I found an exhaust valve seal used on an intake valve stem. This engine has been rebuild before I bought it, maybe they can use those or just didnt know or care. Any thoughs on that?
