Well first off I guess Im lucky to be alive.
When my cousin came to visit we decided to clean my firebirds carburator. After many hours and many bears later we got it back together. Putting it back on we discovered a leak (its a holley). Well we took it apart and discovered a o-ring problem. Since I didnt have a replacement one we made one out of a rubber hose - great! The leak stopped and all was fine till a few days later.
Me and my g/f decided to go out cruising and started a 12 mile trip to town, on the road I smelled gas. Ok a little leak I thought and pushed on. Arriveing into town we pulled into the nearest gas station to see whats leaking. I opened the hood and told my g/f to turn on the ignition . OMG!!! There was fuel everywhere the intake was covered with fuel. Then came a hard decision what to do next, being the hard head I didnt want to leave the car in the gas station, I decided to drive to a garage where ,thank *** I got it fixed. I guess I have to be thankful that my spark plug wires are ok!

here is one for you.. When putting on the tailshaft of a t5 and it will not go.. check to see if the tailshaft might be damaged BEFORE you throw the transmission across the room. : (

after doin some major work on your car over a few days time span always go back and make sure u tightened and fastened everything properly, especially if alchohal was involed for most of the work....... i just finished my t-5 swap the other day and was really anxious to see if the tranny worked properly and shifted well.... so i skipped the above step because im very confident in my work
after driving a few miles and being very pleased that the tranny shifts great in every gear i decided to see how much more pickup i now had over my old worn out th-350. so i slammed on it in first gear spun the tires for about 20 feet sideway the whole time and slammed her into second..... next thing i hear was BOOM! it scared the **** outa me i though i gernaded the rear or the tranny, i then noticed a large dent in my trans tunnel (center console was still out).. anyway i forgot to tigthen the torque arm mount and the top bolt backed out and pulled the first 3 threads with it and the torque arm came free and smashed into my car
so i limped her home (50 ft or so) and proceeded to drop the tranny down to retapped the hole and beat my trans tunnel back into shape with a rubber mallet.... moral of the story.. short cuts are normally long cuts.. take ur time and think and double check
