Heads and Accessories
Heads and Accessories
Putting together a 400. I'll be using a set of "double hump" heads (I already have them, don't have the dough for aftermarket super heads). My question is, since these heads have no accessory holes, does anyone make brackets to relocate the alternator and power steering pump? I really need to make these work. Thanks in advance.

With 400ci and 69cc chambers, you will have very high compression with flat tops, too high for cast iron and pump gas anyway.
It would probably be less trouble to get the right heads if you need all the accs. (ps, alt, ect.)
If you just need an alt bracket it shouldn't be to hard to find though. I believe most or all these setups used a short water pump (I may be wrong)
Hope this helps at all.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, not using flat tops, using "dished" piston. Compression should come out to about 10.1/1 I think I've solved the accessory problem,March Performance Pulley seems to have what I need. I'll know for sure this week. I agree that it would be alot easier to get different heads, but I'm building this engine on a tight budget (USAF is a great job, but you won't get rich) and I already have the double humps and don't want to spend another 800 or so dollars for aftermarket heads if I can avoid it.
