how do i check air/fuel ratio?

Engine: 355, trick flow heads, zz409 cam, 3
Transmission: 700r4, shift kit, valve body
Axle/Gears: precision 3.73's, auburn diff
how do i check air/fuel ratio?
i thought i read somewhere you could strip back the wire to the oxygen sensor and use a DMM to check it but i couldnt find it searching. i know how to use a dmm, and i dont want to buy any expensive equipment, and dont really want to take it to a shop.

Its a waste of time, really wont tell you all that much. The best way is to use a wideband and standalone controller if you just want something to monitor the engine. Innovate makes a nice handheld unit. There is also a barebones inline controller from them that puts out a voltage only signal.
