...... Search that area for a coolant leak? I don't believe there are too many hoses there.

In that particular spot, it sounds a lot like the heater core hose. Hopefully I won't be giving you bad advice here, but if it's anything like mine, the hose should come out of the firewall and towards the front of the engine, passenger side into a valve with other hoses going into it. Check that hose first. If it's not exactly like mine, you should still have a similar setup. Heater core hose from firewall to some kind of valve. Most likely either this hose or another hose has either split, got a hole in it come kind of lose or the clamp has fallen/rotted off. If it is a hose, best bet it to get a new hose the same length, new clamps at either end, oh, and... here's a warning...

If the valve is the same as mine, due to the age of the car, you are very likely to break it getting the hose off. I grabbed hold of my defective valve to remove the hose and the plastic outlets the hoses go on, two on em shattered off inside their hoses. You might wanna get a new valve to be on the safe side. You can always return it for a refund or just fix it at the store and buy the valve if it breaks there. If you ever lose heat from the climate control system inside the car, that's a likely culprit for being broken inside too, the valve.
