What is the standard length of push rod?
Need to buy new push rods, I need to know the standard length of an '87 chevy 350 small block?

best thing to do is get a length checker and make sure you need the standard length.
Especially if you have done anyblock decking.
But, for a flat-tappet lifter, 7.8 inch.
For a factory hyd-roller lifter 7.2 inch

Thanks jcb,
What happened was that I was looking for a miss in the engine, the car felt like it was running on 7 cylinders.
So after going thru the ignition stuff, I decided to pull off the valve covers and check for a broken spring.
Well what I found was that on cylinder #2, the rocker stud on the exhaust side was broken off and the push rod on the intake side was broken in half. So cylinder #2 was totally dead.
This is the second rocker stud that has broken on my AFR heads. These studs came from AFR when I bought the heads. The first stud broke after only 1 month. I thought that it was just a fluke. After this second one broke, I'm going to replace all of the rocker studs.
One would think that if you spend $1500 on a set of heads that you would get good studs!
I'm really pissed off!!!!!

THe usual reason for stud breakage is valve spring coil bind, or over-revving the springs; the results are similar in both cases, namely the studs get several times their design load applied to them... the effect is much like beating on them with a hammer, as much as hundreds of times a second.
What is your valve train? The answer to your problem lies there, not the studs; the studs are just the victim of whatever is actually going on.

Well, the heads are AFR 190 heads and I ordered them preassemble for max valve lift of 0.600", at least thats what I was told by AFR what I was going to get.
I have a ZZ9 cam and 1.5 ratio rocker arms so that the actual max valve lift is about 0.52".
I have never checked for coil binding. I believe that when the valve is fully opened thats when you measure the gap between the individual coils of the valve spring. Is this correct?
What is the minimum gap between the coils at max lift?
BTW, the rockers are 1.5 ratio Comp Cams roller tip rockers and also I am using guide plates which came with the heads.
