Oil Pressure Problems

Is it my oil pump or a clogged screen? When the cars is at idle or slow moving (under 5mph) I have almost no oil pressure. But the oil pressure builds as I drive the car or get into higher rpms the gauge reads 25-30ish. It will go back down again when sitting at an idle. Besides that I hearing a rattle every so often (I heard it 3 times) that I assuming that my timing chain. I not driving the car of coarse I just had to drive it home when it first started having the problems and it was about an 8 mile trip. Do I need to replace my timing chain also?

I would check pressure with a mechanical gauge first.
If the oil pump pick-up [or pump] was that clogged, its unlikely to flow that much more oil once your moving.

Barring high mileage, and or a faulty oil pressure sender/gauge, you may have a faulty oil filter (it has an internal pressure relief valve.)

The timing would be off if the chain is stretched enough to rattle.

What makes you think it's your timing chain making the noise? I hate to suggest the worst, but could it be the lack of oil letting the lifters collapse and tick or the rods knocking? I'm in the same boat, 60,000 miles of serious abuse has taken it's toll on my 500$ rebuild. I have great pressure when the motor is cold, but once the oil warms up I get less than 5 psi of pressure at idle and the motor starts making nasty noises. You might want to try a thicker oil and see what that does (after you check the obvious first). If it helps then you might be able to buy some time on the thick stuff while you look for another motor. I was able to get another 5K out of my motor on 20-50W.

I am going to get a mechanical pressure gauge tomorrow. I also wanted to add that I did just recently change my oil on the car on 9/15 with 129,718 miles. Could my oil filter not hold pressure almost a week later rgarcia63? Because I did not start having oil pressure issues till 9/21. So there’s some more information.
