My 89 Blazer winter car (4.3L) has this oil relocation deal that puts the filter up by the front left headlight.
1. What is this for? Other than making oil/filter changes easier.
2. Would this fit on my LG4?

Only the 4wd ones got them. For example, my 91 Jimmy 2wd 4dr is located in the normal spot. Maybe the 4wd stuff gets in the way of the filter? Sure you can get a Filter relocation kit for pretty much any car. Look in Summit or Jegs. I figure if I have to get under the car to drain the oil, removing the filter while I'm down there isn't that big of a deal.

besides adding a little more oil capacity it'll get rid of heat in the oil better. you can buy a single or duel remote filter from permacool. check out the jegs catalog or call 800-345-4545. cost is around or under 50 dollars.
