Signs of a burnt valve in my 90/350 camaro?

I just bought a 90 camaro 350/auto car for cheap because the kid that owned it didnt know why it was missing badly. Its got 90k miles and runs.

The kid put headers on it and then took them back off and put the stock manifolds on it, he didnt attach the airtubes on one side back on the header and ran the car with no exhaust after the manifolds. He drove it about 50 miles like this, then it started missing and pops and wont rev up above 4k smoothly.

Sound like burnt valves or did it just take out the plugs?? Flames come out the manifolds when you give it gas. Other possibilities? the car still runs etc but doesnt wanna idle and dies. The car was perfect before he did this exhaust stuff

Quick,

It isn't going to run well without an oxygen sensor, so the lack of an exhaust is a big problem there.

If you are concerned about an exhaust valve failure, do a quick compression test.

BTW - Nice 'Y' car...

well all the plugs looked fouled, one sparkplug wire completely burned in half, and the header only had two bolts in it, both loose and the header wasnt even against the head.
