What can I do for $1,500 ???

Well, thats it. What can I do to my currently stock motor for about $1,500 (assuming I dont buy wheels with it) to get the most out of it.
Keep in mind that I will already have done pullies, afpr, and the free mods.

And I do not want nitrous.

What are my options?

cam, roller rockers, exhasut, better rear gears, stall converter, chip, theres many things you can do, with the 1500 i would get some 3.55 or 3.73 gears, a better cam, roller rockers and and a 2,500 stall, that would wake that car up VERY nicely

or get some gears, world heads, and a nice exhaust and that also will make a NICE improvement in power.

Ok, but assume all of these have already been done:

-full exhaust
-gears
-t56
-pully's
-afpr

Now what could I do to make some power?

My roomate was talking about a holly systemax setup, what about something like that?

Heads, cam, intake, rocker arms. Do some research on the boards to find out what has worked for other people.

$1500.00 Will get you at least 400 HP
if you know what your getting.

#1. Engine work cook and clean block and heads $450.00 "reuse crank"
"double springs on the heads"

#2.New cam $350.00 "comp"

#3.Engine rebuild kit $350.00 depending on
what you get with it.

figure extra with a new timing setup and
distributor.

Some stuff you can reuse depending on the wear.

I would do some intake work and buy new heads.

$1500? You could always buy half a supercharger
Seriously, from what I have learned about SBC's I would get the heads and intakes ported before anything else. Then if youve got some money left id get a decent cam.

Then when youve got some more money, get a supercharger!

Ok guys....
How the hell should I pick out heads and a cam (especially when I personally dont know what works and what doesnt!)???

Everyone says something different!

I've never done this before, so what I'd love is a "recipe" for success. I need to trust someone to pick out parts for me.

"Traxxion" over on thirdgen.org seems to have a killer setup. Running 12.20's with s STOCK bottom end. He's got heads (afr's), cam, mini-ram, and the other bolt-ons and tuning to make the setup work.

I'd love to copy his setup minus the mini-ram and add it a few months down the line

I am thinking the best thing for me to do is follow what other people have done...?
