Cruise control, near disaster

Driving on the highway today, on cruise at about 60. Reached down to tune the radio and bumped the shifter into neutral. Engine revved up, buried the tack before I could get the switch off to kill it. Is this how this is supposed to work? I'd think there should be shutdown or something to prevent this. I'm lucky the rods are still connected after this.

i dont believe their is anything to avoid that.

AFAIK the cruise just works off of the speedo cable without any sort of RPM sensing and whatnot.

No shutdown, just an electronically controlled diaprham.

Tap the brake next time. Better yet tie a relay into the P/N switch to shut the cruise off if you ever hit neutral.

I don't know of this is correct, but I was told the rev limiter for the L98's is set at like 9500 RPM. If this is true, why the hell would they do that?

Beats me but it sure buried the tach at 7 grand. Engine actually sounded pretty good too. Reflexes don't work too good when you're not sure just what's going on, just a second makes a big difference in this deal. I'll sure be careful from now on. (This car is a super nice driver, got to have that cruise you know)
