You can go to Sears and buy a code scanner for about $30.00. I also have heard you can you a paper clip but I don't remember which pins to touch.

use a paper clip or piece or insulated wire and under the driver dash there should be a terminal try the upper most left pin and the upper most right pin then it'll ring em off.. it will ding....(Pause) ding ding . then go into the codes as every time the light comes on it counts for a one example Code 34 MAF sensor malfunction 1+1+1 pause 1+1+1+1 , then back to ding.... pause ding ding

It didn't work because he told you the wrong pins. It's the upper-right most pin, and the pin immediately to the left of it. The upper-left most is the TCC lockup pin. All you did is signal the TCC solonoid to activate.

That'a probably the coolant temp sensor... the ECM expects the engine to reach some reasonable temp within some reasonable time of running, and if it doesn't, it sets a code. 10 minutes is about how long it waits.

Pull the codes and see what it says, there's a list of them in the tech section of this site.

Trent,

A guy from Waukesha should really have this file:

GM Error Codes.pdf

It has everything you'll need except the paper clip.
