code 34....maf or ecm???
code 34....maf or ecm???
My car just flashed a SES light at me last night. The car was running poorly, and had an irratic idle. The car died on me, and when I started it again the SES light went off and it drove normaly. I pulled the code at lunch today and checked the connection on the MAF. Is there any way to tell if the MAF is broken without replacing it? I know they are pricey, and it would suck to replace it and find that the ecm was the problem. Any advice?
thanks

My code 34 was a loose fitting upstream of the MAF. Tightened the hose, zeroed the ECM and no code. Also there is a MAF on e-bay now cheap. Check the wiring also.

Okay,
I did a search and plan on checking relays, ducting, MAF sensor connections, and TPS voltage after I get out of the office. The only reason I asked about ecm is because there is something listed about a code 34 and a bad ecm in my repair manual. I'll post further if everything checks out and I get the code again.
thanks
