ive got a 86 lg4 w/ 150,000 miles on it. ive noticed this weird ticking noise coming from it. sounds the same way a horse does like when you hear it running in a movie, only not a rythmic. thanks

 

its proly a bad lifter or an exaust leak.

i havent noticed any power losses lately, but, i also remember hearing this noise 1 1/2 ago when i got the cra. how do i tell which one of the 2 symptoms it is? and how do i fix them?

check/set your valve lash. Once you get the valve covers off, any major problems will become aparent. This can also be exhaust manifold leak as stated above. Keep the engine running and get your ear in there to try to figure out where the sound is comming from.
