I just got a 3 piece set from March. They were $225 for my L69... I've heard both good and bad so I decided to get them and try it for myself... I got a big "seat of the pants" difference. I'm happy with them. I'm going to take it to the track Sun. and see how much I gain.

If you aren't charging well enough, March makes new "Power & Amp" Pulley sets that reduce accesory rpm's, except for the alternator, which is increased.Good for people that want underdrive pulleys, but have a big stereo(like me).
2 piece black set is $92.99
3 piece polished set is $173.99 from Jeg's.

I find it hard to belive you could feel a SOTP difference with them.

On Lingenfelters site, they have engine (not chassis) dyno results with the March pulley setup, IIRC, there was between 3-5HP increase toward the very topend of the curve. Figure drivetrain loss, and it'd be less at the rearwheels.

Regardless, every little bit helps when you're trying to gain just a scooch more, and they do look much better than the stock pullies.

You can get a 2 pulley (crank and alt) Mr. Gasket set that's just as good as the March ones for under $80. I think the place I got mine was carpartsonline.com. They're not a complicated set of gear...

Don't worry about the alternator charging voltage unless you have something sucking a lot of power, like a big stereo. Yeah, your headlights dim a bit at idle (and your battery gauge will drop to the 12-13 range from 13.5+), but it shouldn't hurt unless you have a stereo.

Pulleys are cheap and super-easy to put on (remember, you'll need a new belt, tho - search the boards for the part # or measure with string when you're ready for it), but I wouldn't do them as a solitary mod expecting to see a huge gain. With pulleys, an open element, and a TBI spacer (and everything else well-maintained), I'm measuring about 15 hp more (with a G-Tech) than when I bought the car bone-stock.

Oh, yeah - the crank is the big one to underdrive (putting on a smaller crank pulley slows the whole belt system down), the others (making alt, waterpump, smaller) don't make as big a difference... wouldn't worry about spending the xtra $$ on the 3-pulley set, but that's just my opinion, it could be wrong!
