bad gas mileage??

I just installed a 400 sbc into my TA. I have been on a couple of fairly small road trips ( 142-200 miles) and the best gas mileage I have gotten is 11.88 MPG. Wondering if that sounds right? seems kinda low to me.
What I know about the car and engine. new engine with 9.1 compresssion, forget cam side but have it at home, stock trans, stock 1982 intake and exhaust manifolds, 750 carb, 3 inch catback system with cat. Going down the road at around 70 mph the engine is running at about 7000 RPM.
Just wondering what anyone is thinking of this.Thanks.

Upcoming plans: Headers, hopefully true dual exhaust, and intake. Then paint and body work.

That would explain it.

If that's the case, bad gas mileage would be a bit lower on the "things to worry about" list. At least, for me.

Five7: ROTFLMAO!!!

If that is a 400 with a holley type carb, a decent cam, and without TCC lockup, I'd brag about 11.8 MPG!
Pickup truck with a 454 at 75: 10.9
