How many horses am I pushin?...
How many horses am I pushin?...
I have a 1989 IROC-Z Camaro, 5.7ltr, which stock is 230hp, and 330 lbs of torque, stock. But the car is equipped with K&N Filters, Cat-Back Flowmasters, Custom Ram Air (that breathes from behind the fog lights). So how many horses you think I gained?
Thanks, Tom.
Thanks, Tom.
Just a question: When you installed the custom ram air, did it make your car run any hotter? I installed a custom ram air behind the fog lights and my car ran about 15 degrees hotter than without.

Thats what I thought would happen, but it didn't on my car. I have aluminum heads and coated headers, 3 core radiator and stock water pump. Running 65/35 water/coolant and Im running too cold, need to add more coolant next time. I didn't notice any heat increase at all when I did it.
As far as your power, those filters are about nothing, the ram air is probably very small, and the flowmasters may be 10-15. I would say 15-20 all together. Depending on how many miles are on the engine, you may break even at the stock specs.

Get yourself some headers and those mods will drastically improve, the lack of headers is holding those back.

You have to keep in mind that hp gains from those types of mods aren't always cumulative. What I mean is this: you may have added 20 hp but it isn't at the same point that GM measured the highest hp for the engine. If GM says it makes 230 hp at 5000 rpm, you mods may have added the hp at 3500 rpm. Thus you will pull harder through the mid-rpms and gain a few tenths in your ET but not actually have an engine with a higher gross hp.
