Super Chevy- The New Danger Mouse Pt 2 "Supercharged"
Well The December Issue of Super Chevy Hit The Stands. And the new danger mouse pt 2 is on page 71. With a final HP 0f 780@6100 and 701Tq @5500. I think the 92 Camaro the motor is going into will be a fun car to drive. I also think there is MORE Hp in her. With lower temps, a Intercooler that serves it's purpose, race gas and a tweak of the Commander 950 Pro W/WidebandO2 I think we can reach the 800+ Hp Platue. Not that it will matter, the 265/35/18's on Boyd Coddington Rodders Will be roasting every gear anyways. But fun none the less.
Here is a Average Dyno Sheet the magazine did not show. It's averaged on about 40 Pulls, both natural aspirated and Boosted.
You can see all pictures associated with Project here.

they have a new one they are doing with a l98 dart block, will put out 700HP. It made 481 NA. Insane, wish I had $$ to do that.

I have enjoyed this series but can anyone tell me how they can call this latest incarnation an L98? Perhaps I have misunderstood what an L98 motor is.
Cheers!

Your wright there is nothing L98 about it. But because the project used a TPI replacement manifold ( Holley Stealth Ram) The guys at the magazine needed an angle to get you to buy a magazine.

That was the conclusion I had come to but was open to the possibility that I had missed something in history. Seems that the more I learn the less I know.
So this is your engine that they are thrashing on 1dwn?
Thanks,

I wouldn't say Thrashing. Only about 35 to 40 pulls. But yes the motor is going in my 92 camaro. I have a past relationship with the magazine with all the features the car has been in.
In 2001 I was showing the car at the Super Chevy Show in Las Vegas. After the show ended on Sunday I thought I'd cruise the "Strip" in Vegas. Well along the way somewhere some how, the 383 that was in it went south and fast. When I got it home and tore the motor down I discoverd that I had 3 cracked cylinder walls ontop of which all the bores were deeply scored, and one piston was showing signs of being on it's way of being melted. I guess it was running a bit lean on that cylinder. I had a NX Direct Port wet system with SHARK nozzles adj from 200 to 600hp. So I decided to sell everything off and start over fresh. Because I own a company that is in the Aftermarket Industry I have made a few relationships with some pretty big Mfgs. So I decided to make a Supercharged 406 with the best parts out there. Didn't want this problem twice.
Well one day in 2003 the editor of Super Chevy calls me on my cell and wants me to go out to just outside of Las Vegas for the opening of this Hot Rod facility called "Hot Rod Hill" and tells me there is going to be this big caravan of fomer magazine cars and it's going to be covered on Hot Rod TV, a real big party. Well I have to turn it down because my motor was wasted and there is no way of driving it. So he ask's what are you going to do? I let him know of my plans and tell him that Holley just came out with this new replacement manifold for the TPI. And at the time of the disscusion there were not many heavly modified Stealth Ram Motors with boost, So I thought I'd show what the HSR could really do with a little boost. Well apparently Mr editor liked the idea for a tech article and well the rest is history.

Well, I guess I was right - you cleared the 700 HP target with ease! Oh, what a monster that car is going to be. Congratulations on the successful build.
Is there ANY chance that motor could be put into something that's actually going to make a serious pass down a dragstrip? Not spinning helpless street radials past 100 MPH. A REAL dragstrip pass..... something with traction, gears, a reasonably well sorted out suspension.
It's so rare for a magazine to build a monster motor and then actually put it in something and turn the kind of ET or MPH you would expect from that kind of horsepower. I'd expect bottom 10s from that motor. Any chance you'd take a whack at it?

You are so wright when it comes to magazines, monster motors and what a waste they can be. I have been to the editors house on several ocasions, and on the back side of his property he has a 60' X 60' steel building you see on TV or in the back of magazines. Just poor a concrete slab and they will build you a stable for your car collection. Well anyways I like to call his steel building the "Garage Mahal" It has SOOO many awsome Tech Engine buildups from the past 4-5 years that were in super chevy magazine, that are just sitting collecting dust. It's quite depressing.
But to answer your question, Yes I will try to make a valid attempt at running it down the 1320. I'd love to get it in the low 10's or maybe if I'd ever be so blessd 9.99. I have a GSX-R 1000 to pick on!

update on an old post. Got the motor bolted in about a month ago, then went and put in a 94 T-56 With a Mcleod street twin and Mcleod Slick Stick, spohn torque arm, Custom 3.5" aluminum shaft, and a moser 9" with 35 spline axles 4.11's and a detroit locker. I thought I'd snap a Photo of the motor finally in between the fenders. More to come.
