lb9 intake reseal-remove valve covers?

my question is, do the valve covers need
removed to do the intake reseal?
i plan on doing this operation next sat.
and i want to have all of my parts layed
out in front of me before i start.

someone told me at gm that only one side
needs to come off, is this true

also what is my cooling sys. capacity
if i have a/c
appreciate any help
