How do i get dipstick tube out?
The motor's pulled so its easier to work with other then the fact its not on a stand. I went to take off the crappy manifolds on this 305 tpi and on the passenger side the bracket for the dip stick tube was pissing me off, i bent the whole thing up and took a hack saw to it hoping to just be able to get a new one. Hows this thing come out? I pulled on it but no budge? Where should i get a new cheapy one at?

Mine just took a bit of wiggling and pulling and it popped out...
Any autoparts store should be able to get you a new one, you can even get chrome ones if you like bling.

I used vice grips on mine and just started pulling outwards and side to side. It eventually gave. Wasn't the easiest though because I did the same thing you did, but it was still in the car
so I had to run out and buy a Lokar braided one. Okay, I could've bought one of the chrome ones at the store, but I don't like chrome and wanted a stainless braided one (not to mention they didn't have one for '87-up cars at the store).
Then when I pulled the 305, I couldn't use that stainless braided setup because I have an old block that uses the driver's side dipstick setup and I wasn't going to buy another braided setup so I had to settle for chrome. That and my oil breather are the only two pieces of chrome on my car. The cheap chrome stuff is cheaper/easier to get than non-chrome stuff sometimes it seems
Oh, and when you put a new one back in, put a dab of black RTV sealant around where it will butt up to the hole in the block. Oil shouldn't get to there anyways with the press fit (speaking of which, you may need a rubber mallet or something to tap the new one in), but the RTV is a nice little extra precautionary thing I did.

Definately use some RTV on it when you put it in, I didnt on mine and when you get the revs up it pukes oil right onto the collector of the header. I though for sure my new motor was toast then i looked around and saw my header was coated in cooked oil dripping from the dipstick!
