motor mount bolt or weld
im in the prosses of freshing up my motor with new accesorys. im in the middle of the motor mounts and ive removed the old mounts but getting the new mounts on esspecaly on the drivers side has proven difficult. i dont like the bolt and nut methiod when you caint see the nuts your installing. not to mention just holding them in position. i was thinking of weling the mount to the body since mounts tend to last a bit and i have a wire fed welder (non-gas) but i wanted to run it past a few other owners. any help you could provide on installing the mounts the right way would be awsome also.

I think you would be better off just putting the bolt back in it. If you had to change the mount you would be screwed and welding it to the frame will probably weaken the metals.

If the motor is out of the car, you stand some chance getting a good weld on the motor mount, but then it is welded in the car and, in the end, may or may not hold. Removing them would be interesting. If the motor is still in, I believe it would be pretty difficult to get any kind of good weld in there.
If the motor is out, you could also use nut-serts aka threaded rivets.
I talk a bit about them in this post (down towards the bottom): https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hlight=nutsert
I have put them through hell and they hold up no problem. I have had 3 different engines in the car since installing them and they are holding up great (even with the current 383). They are well worth the effort in my book.
Just a thought.
