Why does the stupid thing have to be there??!!

At work the other night i was doing a tune up and while i was at it i wanted to change my broken oil pressure sending unit, for the guage in the car. But while trying to take the old unit out that stupid little piece that looks like a popeye the sailorman pipe broke. And it borke of flush with the head or the lower intake whichever it screws in to i couldn't really tell. Anyway i spent a couple of hours trying to extract the stupid piece but was unsucessful so i tapped some threads into it and put a screw, yes a screw, into the whole with some teflon tape. This was after the bolt i used was way to small and i lost a half a quart of oil in about 15 minutes. so when i am ready to fix this thing right where can i get the popeye pipe piece at, ABC, AutoZone, Advance Auto, OR do i have to go to the dealer, OR a junkyard any help would be appreciated. Oh and whose stupid idea was it to put that thing back there any way I mean what if it breaks , how in the heck are you supposed to get it out.

Z,

That is an angle adapter, and can be found at any good hardware store. Unfortunately, you'll need to remove the broken section to install the replacement, and to check the pipe size. I believe it is a 1/8" NPT, but could be mistaken (again).

You'll need a pipe extractor to get it out. It's basically an easy out for pipe. Sears makes a good set for about $30. I used to have the sane problem with filler tubes breaking off in sprayer pumps.
