Heater core questions

Hi
pls help
looked at about 100 heater core articles here..

Mine is a '89 350 Trans Am.. I got 3 of the 4 screws out from the heater housing box.... guess i need to get that 1 last top screw.... real PITA

but

All I took off is the r. passenger under neath kick panel
and thin little r passenger front panel...

How do you get at that top 4th srcew WITHOUT taking
the whole dash board out of car ??

On an 1989 TA - do I have to take out the entire dash board and all the other parts as some have said ???

Some people say just get the r speaker out and somehow
squeeze hand under dash board ???

Can I do that ?

Im novice rookie and already spent about 5 hours on this.

I have no clue as to which what screw to undo to take any more parts out of my car to get at this heater core.

HOW DO ya get the dash board - if I have to do it?

I don;t know whee which screw or where to find the corret screws to veen take out to get started ??? Baffled.

Does '89 TA make a difference?

Thanks

If i remember correctly one of the guys here was able to use a 1/4" ratchet and long extention to get at it. It might have been on a camaro though.

When I did min I pulled the dash out a few inches on the passenger side. That gave me just enough room to squeeze my hand in and get the top screw with a 1/4 rachet.

I have also heard someone say to remove the edm and you might have enough room to reach up from the bottom.

By the way that top screw was such a pain I didn't bother putting it back in.

Pls tell me in more detail how did ya get the dash board out -

what screws ( the defroster ones ) did ya have to take out ?

Where are the screws and what else do ya have to take out first to get the dash board out of way ??

I dunno what i'm doing.... I'm screwed.... lokks like it s off to the dealer and pay $$$100 to get fixed.

How do ya get the ECM out of way ?

What does the ECM even look like ?? What color is it?
Will I screw the car up if I take or disconnect the ECM ?

Help !!!

In a pinch you can always bypass the heater core.
